100 Reversing lights

(1)

One or more reversing lights may be fitted to the rear of a vehicle and on each side towards the rear of the vehicle.

(2)

A reversing light must have its centre not over 1.2 metres above ground level.

(3)

When on, a reversing light must show a white or yellow light to the rear or to the side and rear of the vehicle.

Note Third edition ADRs only allow white reversing lights.

(4)

A reversing light fitted to a motor vehicle must be wired so it operates only when the vehicle is reversing or in reverse gear.

(5)

A reversing light fitted to a trailer must be wired so it operates only when a motor vehicle towing the trailer is reversing or in reverse gear.

(6)

A yellow reversing light may also operate as a direction indicator light.
