923 False or misleading statements
(1)
A person must not state anything to an official for this Act that the person knows is false or misleading in a material particular.Maximum penalty—40 penalty units.
(2)
It is enough for a complaint against a person for an offence against subsection (1) to state that the statement made was ‘false or misleading’ to the person’s knowledge.
(3)
A person must not be prosecuted for an offence against this section if the person can be prosecuted for an offence against section 488.
(4)
In this section—
official means—
(a)
an inspector; or
(b)
the registrar.
