National heavy vehicle number plate fee

In force
Part 10Fees and Charges

173 National heavy vehicle number plate fee

In this regulation – Australian CPI number, for a particular quarter in a financial year, means the Consumer Price Index, weighted average of eight capital cities for that quarter, published by the Australian Statistician under the authority of the Census and Statistics Act 1905 of the Commonwealth.

This regulation applies in respect of a national heavy vehicle number plate issued in this jurisdiction for a heavy vehicle.

A national heavy vehicle number plate fee is payable for the issue, or replacement, of a number plate or a set of number plates for a vehicle to which subregulation (2) applies.

For the financial year ending 30 June 2022, the national heavy vehicle number plate fee is $26.10.

In any subsequent financial year, the amount of the fee is to be calculated by multiplying the fee fixed by the Registrar under subregulation (4) by the relevant indexation factor.

The relevant indexation factor for a fee in a particular financial year is the Australian CPI number for the December quarter immediately preceding that financial year divided by the Australian CPI number for the December quarter in 2020.
