Processes for avoiding conflicts of interest
16 Processes for avoiding conflicts of interest
An authority holder must establish a process for managing and resolving conflicts of interest involving the following—
if the authority holder is an organisation—a member of the governing body of the organisation,
an agent, employee or collector, whether voluntary or not, of the authority holder.
If, in a meeting of a governing body, the appointment, conditions of service or remuneration of, or the supply of goods or services by, a member of the body or the member’s immediate family is being considered—
the member must be excluded from that part of the meeting, and
the quorum for the meeting must not include the member, and
the resolution of the matters being considered must be subsequently ratified at a general meeting of the organisation or by a committee to which has been delegated the function of ratifying the resolution of the matters.
