Rear clearance lights

54 Rear clearance lights

(1)

Rear clearance lights may only be fitted to a heavy vehicle that is at least 1.8m wide.

(2)

A pair of rear clearance lights must be fitted to the rear of a heavy vehicle that is at least 2.2m wide.

(3)

The centre of a rear clearance light fitted to a heavy vehicle must be—

(a)

not more than 400mm from the nearer side of the vehicle; and

(b)

if practicable, at least 600mm above ground level.

(4)

When on, a rear clearance light fitted to a heavy vehicle must—

(a)

show a red light visible 200m from the rear of the vehicle; and

(b)

not use more than 7W.

(5)

In this section—

rear clearance light means a light fitted to the rear of a vehicle that indicates the dimension limits of the vehicle when viewed from the rear.
