53 Fees and charges
A Board may by resolution set fees and charges for any of the following purposes —
issuing a funeral director’s licence; and
issuing a single funeral permit; and
digging or opening a grave; and
a grant or renewal of a grant of a right of burial; and
permission to erect new or additional memorials and for supervising such work; and
cremation; and
conducting a funeral; and
inspection of registers and issue of extracts or certified copies therefrom; and
registration of the assignment or bequest of a right of burial; and
exhumation; and
maintenance of graves; and
extraordinary services provided for funerals; and
disposal of ashes; and
the provision of memorials; and
any other purpose necessary for the effective administration of this Act.
A fee or charge set by a resolution under subsection (1) shall not come into effect until not less than 14 days’ notice of the fee or charge has been given in the Gazette.
Fees and charges set under this section shall be payable to the Board and recoverable as a debt in a court of competent jurisdiction.
The Minister may, by order published in the Gazette, amend or revoke a fee or charge set by a Board under this section if the Minister considers the fee or charge to be unreasonable.
