Radiation Safety Act 1975

The licences which may be granted under this Act shall be of the following kinds —

licences authorising persons to operate or use radioactive substances, irradiating apparatus or electronic products, for one or more of the following purposes —

dental diagnosis; and

medical diagnosis by radiography; and

medical diagnosis by fluoroscopy; and

medical diagnosis by the use of radioactive substances; and

medical therapy; and

chiropractic diagnosis by radiography; and

veterinary diagnosis by radiography; and

veterinary therapy; and

industrial; and

radioactive luminous devices; and

research; and

other purposes approved by the Council;

licences authorising persons to manufacture, store, transport, sell, possess, install, service, maintain, repair, or otherwise deal with radioactive substances, irradiating apparatus or electronic products.

Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1), it shall not be necessary for a medical, dental, or veterinary practitioner to hold a licence under this Act for the purpose of requesting the holder of a licence to undertake any diagnosis or therapy.

Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1), it shall not be necessary for a nurse practitioner acting in accordance with the relevant provision, if any, of a code or guidelines approved under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Western Australia) section 39 to hold a licence under this Act for the purpose of requesting the holder of a licence to undertake any diagnosis or therapy.

In subsection (2a) —

A licence shall be in the prescribed form, but may relate to one matter or several matters.
