3 Object of regulations
The object of these regulations is to ensure that any petroleum activity, geothermal activity or greenhouse gas activity carried out in the State is —
carried out in a manner consistent with the principles of ecologically sustainable development; and
carried out in accordance with an environment plan that —
demonstrates that the environmental impacts and environmental risks of the activity will be reduced to as low as is reasonably practicable; and
has appropriate environmental performance objectives and environmental performance standards; and
has appropriate measurement criteria for determining whether those objectives and standards have been met.
