96 Mining statistics and returns

The Secretary may direct the holder of an authorisation—
to keep any statistics in relation to the conduct of prospecting operations and mining operations, and to the treatment and disposal of minerals recovered, under the authorisation, and
to furnish to the Secretary any returns in connection with those statistics.
Any statistics required to be kept under this clause are to be kept in the form that the Secretary may determine from time to time.
Any returns required to be furnished are to be furnished at any time and in respect of any periods that the Secretary may determine.
The holder of an authorisation must not fail to comply with a direction under this clause or, in purported compliance with a direction under this clause, furnish false or misleading information.
Maximum penalty—
100 penalty units, in the case of an offence committed by a corporation, or
50 penalty units, in the case of an offence committed by an individual.
