A warning light attached to the bus, when switched on, must emit a flashing yellow light.

The warning lights at the same end of the bus must flash alternately between 90 and 180 times per minute.

A bus manufactured before, or within 12 months after, the commencement of this subsection that complies with subsections (1) and (2) as in force before the commencement is taken to comply with subsections (1) and (2) as in force on the commencement.

Unless the driver of the bus has turned the warning lights off, they must operate automatically when a door on the bus opens and for at least 10 seconds, and not more than 20 seconds, after all the doors on the bus have closed.

The bus must have an audible or visible signal that tells the driver of the bus in the normal driving position when the warning lights are flashing.

The bus must be fitted with a switch that allows the driver of the bus to turn the warning lights off from the normal driving position.

A warning light fitted to the bus must have—

an effective lit lens area of at least 60cm²; and

a luminous intensity (in candela) of at least the values mentioned in the following table when measured at the angles mentioned in the table.

For the purposes of subsection (6)(b), the luminous intensity of a light is to be measured using the test method mentioned in third edition ADR 6. sch 2 s 77 amd 2023 SL No. 15 s 5(2)–(4)
