24 How carcases are to be branded
This regulation applies to a carcase that is to be branded under regulation 22 or 23.
Except for rabbits, the carcase is to be branded on each side.
For a bovine, the carcase is to be branded —
on the outside of the buttock; and
on the outside of the ribs; and
on the shoulder.
For a sheep, goat or deer, the carcase is to be branded —
on the outside of the leg; and
on the shoulder.
For a pig, the carcase is to be branded —
on the outside of the leg; and
on the outside of the loin; and
on the shoulder; and
on the outside of the cheek.
For game other than a rabbit, goat, deer or pig, the carcase is to be branded —
on the outside of the buttock; and
on the shoulder.
For a rabbit, the carcase is to be branded on one side of the neck.
A brand applied to a carcase under this regulation is to be —
coloured red for a carcase passed as fit for human consumption or blue for a carcase passed as fit for consumption by animals; and
made from a substance listed in a Schedule to FSC standard 1.3.1.
