54 Qualifications and experience for referees—Act, s 233
For section 233(1)(a) of the Act, the appointer may appoint a person to be a referee if the appointer considers the person has demonstrated knowledge of at least 1 of the following that the appointer considers is sufficient to enable the person to perform the functions of a referee—
building design and construction;
infrastructure design and delivery;
siting of residential buildings;
neighbourhood amenity matters;
relevant health or fire safety matters;
the Act, the Building Act or the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018;
the Building Code, the Queensland Development Code or the Australian Standards relating to building work;
the Plumbing Code, the Queensland Plumbing and Wastewater Code or the Australian Standards relating to plumbing or drainage work;
engineering.
In this section—
Plumbing Code means the parts of the National Construction Code that form the Plumbing Code of Australia (including the Queensland Appendix), published by the Australian Building Codes Board, as amended from time to time by amendments published by the board.
