Maximum number of houseboat licences
10 Maximum number of houseboat licences
The GMR Water Corporation may determine in accordance with subregulation (2) the maximum number of houseboat licences it will issue for a 12-month period beginning 1 July, having regard to—
the safety of houseboat licence holders and the amenity of the Lake; and
the possibility of an unacceptable risk to public health as a result of an increase in the number of houseboat licences issued; and
the possibility of an unacceptable risk to the environment as a result of an increase in the number of houseboat licences issued.
A determination under subregulation (1) must be made—
on or before 31 May for the following 12‑month period beginning 1 July; and
by notice published in the Government Gazette and in a newspaper circulating generally in the area surrounding the Lake Eildon recreational area.
If the GMR Water Corporation does not determine the maximum number of houseboat licences for a particular 12-month period beginning 1 July, the maximum number for that period is the number most recently determined for a 12-month period under this regulation.
