77 Appellant in custody
(1)
This rule applies in relation to an appellant who is not represented by a lawyer and is in custody.
(2)
If the appellant is in prison, the prison’s general manager must give to the registrar written notice that the appellant is in prison.
(3)
If the appellant is in custody in a place other than a prison, the person in charge of the place must give to the registrar written notice that the appellant is in custody in the place.
(4)
The registrar may ask the court for directions about the appeal or subsequent appeal, including, for example, about the appellant’s presence at the hearing of the appeal or subsequent appeal.
