General powers after entering places
415 General powers after entering places
This section applies to an inspector who enters a place under this Part.
For monitoring or enforcing compliance with this Act, the inspector may —
search any part of the place; and
examine, inspect, photograph or film anything on the place; and
copy a document on the place; and
take into or onto the place any persons, equipment and materials the inspector reasonably requires for exercising a power under this Part; and
require a person in the place to give the inspector reasonable help to exercise the powers mentioned in paragraphs (a) and (d).
A person required to give reasonable help under subsection (2)(e) must comply with the requirement, unless the person has a reasonable excuse.
Penalty for this subsection: a fine of $2 000.
If the help is required to be given to an inspector by —
answering a question; or
producing a document, other than a document required to be kept under this Act,
it is a reasonable excuse for the person to fail to answer the question, or produce the document, if complying with the requirement might tend to incriminate the person.
