22 Prescribed permanent identification device
For the purposes of the definition of prescribed permanent identification device in section 3(1) of the Act, the following classes of permanent identification device are prescribed—
a permanent identification device that—
is designed to transmit stored information when activated by a reader; and
complies with the requirements in AS 5019:2025 that a transponder must meet in order to conform to that standard; and
contains a unique identification number—
that complies with the requirements in AS 5018:2025 for a unique identification code transmitted by a transponder; and
the first 3 digits of which are the code allocated to the manufacturer of the device by the International Committee for Animal Recording;
in the case of a prescribed animal that is the subject of a written agreement for sale to a person who intends to keep the animal in another country, a permanent identification device that—
complies with the laws of that country relating to the permanent identification of that class of animal; and
is sold or supplied for implantation into that animal or is implanted in that animal.
