Pet shop records

66 Pet shop records

(1)

For the purposes of section 63AB(1)(a)(ii) of the Act, the prescribed information of which the proprietor of a pet shop must make and keep records in relation to each dog or cat that is offered for sale or sold at the pet shop is—

(a)

the name of the dog or cat, if any; and

(b)

the sex of the dog or cat; and

(c)

the breed of the dog or cat; and

(d)

the age of the dog or cat; and

(e)

the unique identification number of the permanent identification device implanted in the dog or cat; and

(f)

the name, address, telephone number and source number of the person from whom the pet shop proprietor obtained the dog or cat; and

(g)

if the pet shop proprietor obtained the dog or cat from a registered domestic animal business, the registered domestic animal business number of that business; and

(h)

if the pet shop proprietor obtained the dog or cat from a registered foster carer, evidence of that registration from the relevant Council; and

(i)

the name, address and telephone number of the person who purchased the dog or cat; and

(j)

a copy of the permanent identification device change of ownership form signed by the purchaser of the dog or cat.

(2)

For the purposes of section 63AB(1)(b) of the Act, the prescribed manner in which the proprietor of a pet shop must keep and maintain copies of records under section 63AB(1)(a) of the Act is—

(a)

a manner which enables it to be made available for examination by an authorised officer on request; and

(b)

that it must be kept and maintained for not less than 5 years after the record was made.
