Existing driver licences
12 Existing driver licences
For the purposes of this clause, an existing driver licence means—
a driver licence in force under the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Act 1998 and the regulations under that Act, and
a driver licence that has been suspended (but not cancelled) under that Act and those regulations.
An existing driver licence has effect for the unexpired balance of its period of duration as if it had been issued under the corresponding provisions of this Act and the statutory rules, and may be renewed, varied, cancelled or suspended in all respects as though it were a driver licence issued under this Act and the statutory rules.
Subject to this Part and the statutory rules, an existing driver licence continues in effect as a driver licence under this Act of the same class as it was (and subject to the same conditions to which it was subject) under the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Act 1998 and the regulations under that Act.
