For this rule, give way means—

if the driver is stopped—remain stationary until it is safe to proceed; or
in any other case—slow down and, if necessary, stop to avoid a collision—see the definition in the dictionary.
This rule applies to the driver despite any other rule of these Rules that would otherwise require the driver of a police vehicle, emergency vehicle, enforcement vehicle or escort vehicle to give way to the driver.

A driver approaching a stationary or slow-moving police vehicle, emergency vehicle, enforcement vehicle, escort vehicle, incident response service vehicle or roadside assistance vehicle that is displaying a flashing blue, red, magenta or yellow light (whether or not it is also displaying other lights) or sounding an alarm must drive at a speed at which the driver can, if necessary, stop safely before passing the vehicle.
Penalty: 5 penalty units.

A driver approaching a stationary or slow-moving police vehicle, emergency vehicle, enforcement vehicle, escort vehicle, incident response service vehicle or roadside assistance vehicle that is displaying a flashing blue, red, magenta or yellow light (whether or not it is also displaying other lights) or sounding an alarm must give way to any police officer, emergency worker, enforcement vehicle worker, escort vehicle worker, incident response service vehicle worker or roadside assistance vehicle worker on foot in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle.
Penalty: 5 penalty units.

A driver must not drive past, or overtake, a stationary or slow-moving police vehicle, emergency vehicle, enforcement vehicle, escort vehicle, incident response service vehicle or roadside assistance vehicle that is displaying a flashing blue, red, magenta or yellow light (whether or not it is also displaying other lights) or sounding an alarm at a speed greater than 40 kilometres per hour.
Penalty: 5 penalty units.

A driver who drives past, or overtakes, a stationary or slow-moving police vehicle, emergency vehicle, enforcement vehicle, escort vehicle, incident response service vehicle or roadside assistance vehicle that is displaying a flashing blue, red, magenta or yellow light (whether or not it is also displaying other lights) or sounding an alarm must not increase speed until the driver is at a sufficient distance from the vehicle so as not to cause a danger to any police officers, emergency workers, enforcement vehicle workers, escort vehicle workers, incident response service vehicle workers or roadside assistance vehicle workers in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle.
Penalty: 5 penalty units.

Subrules (1), (2), (3) and (4) do not apply if the driver is driving on a road that is divided by a median strip and the police vehicle, emergency vehicle, enforcement vehicle, escort vehicle, incident response service vehicle or roadside assistance vehicle is on the other side of the road beyond the median strip.

This rule applies to the driver despite any other provision of these Rules, other than rules 305 and 306.

For the purposes of this rule—
incident response service vehicle worker means the driver of, or a passenger in, an incident response service vehicle;
roadside assistance vehicle means a vehicle that is being used to tow or provide other assistance to a vehicle which has—
been involved in an accident; or
become disabled;
roadside assistance vehicle worker means the driver of, or a passenger in, a roadside assistance vehicle.
