This Act commences on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
The main purpose of this Act is to provide for stock route network management.
The purpose is to be achieved mainly by the following—
establishing principles of stock route network management;
providing for stock route network management planning;
establishing responsibilities for stock route network management;
constructing and maintaining travelling stock facilities on the stock route network;
monitoring, surveying and controlling the movement of travelling stock.
This Act binds all persons, including the State, and, so far as the legislative power of the Parliament permits, the Commonwealth and the other States.
Subject to subsection (2), this Act does not affect the application of the Nature Conservation Act 1992 or the Forestry Act 1959.
