Declaration of authorised mental health service
329 Declaration of authorised mental health service
The chief psychiatrist may, by gazette notice, declare a health service, or part of a health service, providing treatment and care to persons who have a mental illness to be an authorised mental health service.
However, if the health service is not a public sector health service, the declaration may be made only with the written agreement of the health service.
The declaration may include conditions the chief psychiatrist considers appropriate, including, for example, a condition to facilitate the provision of treatment and care to persons who have a mental illness in rural or remote areas.
