2 Manager of election—functions and powers

(1)

The manager of an election—

(a)

must not influence, or attempt to influence, the outcome of the election; and

(b)

must conduct the election under these rules; and

(c)

may take the action, and give the directions, the manager considers reasonably necessary to ensure the processes under which the election is conducted are transparent; and

(d)

must ensure suitable arrangements are made with Australia Post for the return of ballot papers to a box or locked bag at a post office.

(2)

The manager of an election, other than an electoral officer, may take the action and give the directions the manager considers reasonably necessary—

(a)

to ensure no irregularities happen in the election; or

(b)

to remedy a procedural defect that appears to the manager to exist about the election.

Note—See section 673 of the Act for the actions and directions an electoral officer may take or give.

(3)

To ensure the integrity of an election, the address for return of ballot papers must not be the organisation’s usual postal address.
