97 Notice of ballot

(1)

The manager of a ballot for a proposed amalgamation or withdrawal must, before the ballot starts, give each person with a right to vote in the ballot notice of the start and finish days and times of the ballot.

(2)

If the commission has approved an alternative ballot under section 88(2), the manager of the ballot must—

(a)

fix the place for the ballot; and

(b)

give at least 21 days notice to each voter of—

(i)

the place, day and times; and

(ii)

the procedure to get and cast an absentee vote.

(3)

The manager of the ballot may give a notice under this section by—

(a)

post addressed to the voter’s residential address; or

(b)

including it in a publication the organisation or constituent part gives the organisation’s members with a right to vote in the ballot free of charge; or

(c)

another way the manager considers will reasonably bring the notice to each member’s attention.
