Extension of tracking device authorisation
348E Extension of tracking device authorisation
Before a tracking device authorisation ends, a senior officer of the police service may extend the authorisation period for the authorisation, if the officer is satisfied on reasonable grounds of the matters mentioned in section 348A(1)(b).
The authorisation period may be extended more than once, but must not be extended by more than 48 hours each time.
As soon as reasonably practicable after extending the authorisation period, the senior officer of the police service must make a written record stating—
the date and time the extension was given; and
the length of the extension; and
the grounds for the extension.
