509 Doctor’s powers
This section applies if a police officer asks a doctor under section 502 to perform a forensic procedure on a person.
The doctor may perform a forensic procedure that may provide evidence of the commission of the offence to which the forensic procedure consent or forensic procedure order relates.
If the doctor is performing an intimate forensic procedure and considers it reasonably necessary to also perform a non-intimate forensic procedure or a medical examination the doctor may also perform a non-intimate forensic procedure or a medical examination on the person that may provide evidence of the commission of the offence.
The doctor may act under subsection (3) whether or not it is necessary to do so to enable the doctor to perform the intimate forensic procedure.
