519 Protecting the dignity of person in performing a non-intimate forensic procedure
If it is reasonably necessary for performing a non-intimate forensic procedure on a person, a police officer may ask the person to remove stated items of the person’s clothing.
Subsection (3) applies if a direction under section 516(2) relating to a non-intimate forensic procedure requires a person to remove stated items of the person’s clothing.
If it is reasonably necessary for clothing other than outer garments to be removed, the police officer—
must not require the person to remove more clothing than is necessary for the procedure to be performed; and
if reasonably practicable, must ensure the procedure is not performed—
in the presence of someone whose presence is not required while the procedure is being performed; or
where someone not involved in performing the procedure can see the procedure being performed.
